Prunus Mahaleb update

Based on this particular tree I begin to become clearer to the fascination of
developing raw-material.
It is a matter of decisions. I like to make (designing-)decisions!
And I have to do alot of decision at that stage of development.

prunus_carving

Hello again.
An example-case of carving on a Prunus Cerasifera with the untouched viewing side
before "the grind" and afterwords.
The tree itself is not a cracker-one, 'just an object of trial.
It had a dry truncpart from the base untill the top.
First I removed the dry bark with a coarse steelbrush in a powertool.
Then I did the carvings.
The wood of Prunus-species is nice to carv. 'Quiet hard and good to be bleeched with
lime-sulphur.
The design is not finished yet. The whiteness of the sublime parts is too unnatural bright,
but time and wether will give a humble patina to that.
'Hope you enjoy ...

Project_Thuja_Occi. + Virtual

Another new project.
I am really looking foreward to give this thuja a try.
Imho Thuja occidentalis is a very underestimatet species für designing small trees.
We have a lot of hedge-material, but no original yamadoris.
Anyway, let us see, if I will succeed with this tree ...
A project only ...

brook-alder update

And this is, how it went on. The alder accommpained with some fungus.
I think a Coprinus-anything ... no clue ...
Designing will follow end of month ...

Fungi_time

This year the alder-pot was populated by a fungus.
I am not sure about the species of the fungus, maybe a member of the COPRINELLUS-family ... ?
This sort of mashrooms are decomposing dead wood (lying in the humus).
Therefore I am not worried, that the fungus will have a negative effect on the living wood-tissue of the alder itself.
Well, I hope so anyway ...

project_juniper

Last weekend my bonsai-friend Andrew gave me the honor to be my guest.
After some talk shop about my modest collection, we decided to do some work-practise.
We choose a Juniperus Chinensis blauwii to work on.
We cleared out the branch-structure for later designing in autumn.
I made a (very lousy)  picture with my smart-phone to make some virtuals as a pattern
for the designing-session.

The picture of the raw-material:

Prunus Mahaleb

This spring my dear friend Andrew gave me the chance to dig this wonderful tree.
The pictures shows the tree four weeks after it was yamadorised in April 2016.
Right now it is a trunk with a green "leaf-ball" on its base.
So I decided to show this early picture so one can see the movement of the trunk better.
I am really looking foreward to work with this season`s growth in late autumn ...
